If you're really looking at an 880, be careful. It (at least the 880 anyway, I don't know about the newer ones) writes to disk at 8 bits. The reason they claim that it's uncompressed is that it uses a program table to store the extra parts of the words that are similar - it writes the first eight to disk and then does this table deal. It reassembles them at playback. To me, this qualifies as compression. I asked a Roland rep about it years ago when the thing first came out, and he would not admit it. He conceded every point excepting the word "compression". Anyway, at a much more robust 24 bits in the 001, you'll be much better off. And at least that way, you don't have to buy their bullcrap $70 57' for their COSM mic modeler....
