It's a good idea of course. I often to that (bounce to disk) since I don't have a mega computer from another galaxy. It's a great and clever way to work and get rid of all the cpu eaters, as long as you are sure about the audio you are about to record and you are sure it's finnal and you like it that way. Keep a few backup sessions with still the virtual instrument and all its effects in it, I always save the patch/preset before deleting the whole thing, might sounds stupid but trust me s--t happens! ;-)
