http://www.digidesign.com/news/ and you'll find a press release about our preview of Pro Tools LE 5.0.1 for Win 98 at the NAMM show a month ago. So yes, we've had working alpha or beta versions for some time.
(we also sent out a hundred or so beta copies to Windows AMIII owners for feedback on all different kinds of systems)
As for when it hits the shelf, it will almost certainly be Q2, which means sometime in the next 3 months, not 6.
