User channels are going to be the key to the solution here for you. I don't remember for certain about the direct outs, but you can pick off the channel in multiple areas, (such as top of channel, pre fader, post fader). It is possible accomplish what you are after unless you have all the user assign channels already taken up. PM me if you need additional help. I can boot up the offline and walk you through it.
