Default Re: All lights flashing on my D-Command

Fixed an LED supply today on the D-Command.

I had attempted a repair a couple of years ago, but that one ended in defeat as I damaged a number of traces on the PCB replacing capacitors. Even after attempting to repair the traces, the supply would not power on. Eventually I ordered a new supply.

This time during the capacitor replacement I also damaged a trace, one of the same as last time (negative lead of C11). Last time I had used a meter to to determine where I thought the trace went, as the path was not completely visible.

This time I still had the old supply with the failed repair, so I decided to remove the transformer to see where the trace was really supposed to connect. It turns out that last time I routed the damaged trace to the wrong lead on the transformer. No wonder it didn't work, but it also makes sense that the transformer winding resistance was so low both sides of the winding read the same resistance.

This time I was able to correctly repair the damaged trace and got the supply working again. Hooray!
