Default Help! Driver install fail! Mbox 3 Pro - Not even showing up in Device Manager

I've just bought a new PC, Pro Tools 9 (with free upgrade) and a Mbox 3 Pro. For the last couple of weeks I have almost gone crazy trying to set up the damn thing. I have searched high and low for a solution on the net, to no avail.

I would call Pro Tools support, however the website doesn't give a number for Australia. Does this mean that Aussies get no support, or am I missing something here?

Anyway, my problem is this: I install the Mbox 3 Pro driver. (First I tried the driver on the disk that came with the box, then I tried the latest version downloaded from here ). All seemed to be going well. I am able to open the Mbox control panel, however it says that no hardware is detected. I then install Pro Tools, and when I try to open it, it gives me the standard 'cannot detect hardware' message. (For the record, holding down "n" doesn't do anything...)

So, I try to get to the bottom of this issue. I look in device manager. The Mbox is nowhere to be found. I change the device manager settings so that it shows inactive devices too. Still, no Mbox or Mbox driver shows up.

It is as if the driver isn't even installing. The only thing I can think of is that there must be some kind of hardware compatability issue. But even then, I would have thought that the driver setup would have told me.

What is going on here?

And before anyone asks:
1. Yes, I installed the drivers before I installed Pro Tools. (And I have also tried doing it the other way around, just in case).
2. Yes, I turned on the Mbox before I turned on the Computer.
3. Yes, I ran the setup files as administrator.
4. Yes, it is plugged in properly - not that this would make a difference to my device manager issue.
5. Yes, I have tried disabling onboard audio in the computer's boot stage. Actually a friend did this for me - I don't know much about computers. I just want to make some music.

Please help me.
