Rumors are swarming at Avid Technology Inc (AVID) (manufacturers of disk based editing systems) that they are about to be purchased by Adobe Systems Inc. (ADBE)
Adobe was quite angry with Apple computer for purchasing Final Cut Pro from Macromedia Inc (MACR). Adobe had been supporting the Apple platform for years with all of their products including Adobe Premiere, only to be put into a competitive environment by the hardware manufacturer that they were so loyal to. Well it happened again. Apple recently purchased the visual effects Software Company Nothing Real that develops the products "Shake" and "Tremor". That allows Apple to compete directly with Adobe's flagship visual effects product "AfterEffects". According to Avid insiders Adobe says enough is enough already. They are planning on purchasing Avid Technology so Apple computer can't get their hands on the high-end editorial market as well. According to Avid insiders, this would be a very good move for both Avid Technology and Adobe.
