Default Re: Mac Pro 5,1 2009 with Xeon 12-core a good choice?

If you are searching for an old MacPro... Be sure, that is a Mac Pro 5.1 (2010 or 2012)... The 2009 MPs are Mac Pro 4.1, where the processor upgrade is more difficult... As said before in this thread. The classic Mac Pro has no Thunderbolt. It is possible to upgrade it with an USB3.1 Card and with the actual firmware, you can use NVME SSDs as Boot Disk on a PCIe Carrier Card...But important, there is and will be no thunderbolt on this mac.
One of my Computers is a Mac Pro 5.1 2010 12 core with 64gb Ram and SSDs and a Usb3.1 Card and HDN PCIe. Its a very good system and stable and my flashed gtx 980 works fine.

Donīt forget, that this year a new Mac Pro will come and will be showed at the WWDC.

At last, if you really want a classic Mac Pro, be sure its a 5.1 with westmere Cpus and no 4.1 with nehalem Cpus...
