Default Re: Need Help!!! Midi setup for Digi002 and Yamaha ES6

SHouldn't there be some more info here? ANyway, it doesn't get much simpler. Midi out of the keyboard to midi in of the 002, midi out(pick either) of the 002 to midi in of the keyboard. When you play the keyboard to record midi, set the midi track to input>all, set the output to whatever and mute the midi track(so it does not re-trigger the synth). Once your midi track is recorded, set the midi output to the correct port and channel(probably midi out 1, midi channel 1). Send the L/R outputs from the keyboard to a stereo aux track(or a stereo audio track if you wish to record the sounds). Now when you tell protools to play, the midi track(unmuted of course) should "play" the synth and you should hear the sounds on your aux track(or audio track if you are in record or "input only" monitoring). As far as midi I/O in setup, I found that going generic works fine but when I tried to select specific devices, it would not recieve the midi from my Motif es8. Remember to use low-latency mode when recording. Once you record the midi, you can also use it to trigger soft synths but that's out of my field of expertise.
