I'd be looking at a used or refurbished M1 mac, if I were you. They are fantastically powerful and can be quite cheap. It's now two years since they were introduced, so I think they would be not difficult to find second hand.

A rough thought experiment:
A used Mac Mini M1 ($600) a cheap screen and mouse/keyboard ($100) = $700.
Sell your imac, maybe get $250.
Total cost $450.

Now this will most likely only get you the basic M1 - 8GB ram and 256GB flash disk. Many will tell you 8GB is not enough for PT - they are wrong. I tested this basic mac with PT and it works just fine, just don't expect it to run tens of virtual instruments simultaneously. But the processor is fantastic:

…it will at least double your current processing power for plugins etc. (Scroll down the list in the benchmark link, and find your iMac.) And the internal disk, even though it's not very big, it's so fast (2500-3000GB/s) that everything flies. You might soon want to expand with an external SSD, but they need not be expensive.

The new apple processors are so cool, the fans are never heard. You'll have a great computer that will last you and be supported for many years.
