I agree with albee on this and choose plug-ins that don't induce latency. If in mixdown I need a plug-in with latency on a track I just nudge it. The bigger issue for me is outboard gear sync.

Pro Tools (AVID) is taking such a beating on this subject I cannot fathom them not giving in soon.
