morryC, I had this same thing happen a couple of months back... I tried the super glue route to no avail. This was off a pair of AKG K240's...
I took it to an audio/music gear store and the tech guy drilled into the tip a little ways with a small bit - stopped the drill and pulled it right out. Charged me $35.
