Hmmm. So would a new mini 6 core i7 with 16gb ram run faster or slower than The machine I'm looking at? If overall performance would be better on the older Mac, I would probably opt to sacrifice thunderbolt connectivity. I normally only record a track or two at a time and it seems the Audient and RME USB interfaces are pretty good latency-wise and have good pre's and converters.
