There really isn't much of a way to fix the problem so-to-speak...frequency-based and gain-based plugins are fairly intesive in their own right, especially compressors, companders, limiters, and masterizers. Time-based plugins like reverb, delay, chorus, etc are very complex algorithms and are extremely power-intesive. The only true way is to increase your CPU power or add on more RAM, or at least back off of how many you use (instead of using a Reverb on each track to be triggered for effects, do Aux sends... bump 10 reverbs plugins down to 1 or two).
