1. In the "Source Track", select the material you want to move and 'Cut' it.
2. In the "Destination Track", using the Selector tool, position the cursor where you want to place the material.

It's called type 0 or type 1 MIDI. Type 1 uses separate tracks for each instrument and type 0 uses one track that has everything on it. Sonar can export MIDI as either (at least it used to in Sonar 8).
