Hypercompressed mixes can sound very thin and 'mono-ish' particularly when pushed too far. Personally, I don't like hypercompression at all so, for me, 'too far' is not very far at all.
Also, when taking your mixes to a mastering house, consider not using any imaging plugins (DUY Wide, Waves S1 etc.) or at least providing an alternative mix with nothing at all on the master fader. The engineer will thank you. [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img]
