The firmware update process for the MBox2Pro can be problematic for some users.
There are no functional differences between the two versions of firmware that you mentioned, so there is no reason you would need to update the firmware for compatibility between systems. Unfortunately, the firmware update process happens automatically when you plug-in the box or at least it is supposed to.
If the firmware update process is causing problems, you can work around this problem by just deleting the firmware file that resides on your system. This will prevent the firmware update process from happening. Again, there are no functional differences between the firmware versions you mentioned.
