Default Re: Avid has reopened the sale on reinstatements

Avid is reintroducing Upgrades (previously referred to as "Reinstatement" or "Get Current") which allow perpetual license owners to get onto a current plan to get new software releases, plug-ins and support. Perpetual v9/higher license owners can buy the Upgrade from an Avid Reseller. Users with expired Software Updates + Support Plans can also upgrade directly from their product in my.avid.com/products.
[/INDENT]avid.com > Pro Tools > Upgrade + Renew has options for:

Why does Avid make it so complicated and obfuscating? There are the following descriptions when searching online for the product. These are written on the actual Pro Tools banner/logo so one assumes this is Avid terminology as the same appear across multiple retailers.

1. Upgrade to current Updates + Support Plan
2. New Software Updates + Support Plan
3. Updates + Support Plan Renewal
4. Perpetual
5. Subscription
6. Subscription renewal

Either your marketing team is heavily medicated, or someone has made the decision to make this as difficult as possible. A buyer feedback on a French supplier's site said that despite being assured it was a permanent licence it was in fact an annual subscription, and as we all know, software refunds are simply never offered.

- previously referred to as "Reinstatement" or "Get Current" - how many more iterations of "we'd really prefer to sell you a subscription so will keep changing the terminology to mess with your head until you give in." are there going to be?
