I recently purchased a Profire 2626 and Pro Tools 8. I've been having trouble running anything more than a few tracks without any plug-ins. I didn't have this problem with 7.x and my mbox, but I'm OK with upgrading my computer.
- I don't want to feel limited in my tracking and plug-ins until I get up there. 8-10 tracks with EQ and compression on each along with some reverb auxiliary tracks, some midi, etc, should be the use case we're aiming for. Usually it will be significantly less than that, but sometimes it will be more.
- I'd like to spend ~$300 for a processor and motherboard combo that can use the memory I currently own. If that's not possible with my use-case, just let me know what is.
