mBox NOT mBox2 - CoreAudio doesn\'t realize this
I have an original mBox. I'm trying to run it as a general core audio device under OSX 10.4.10 (so I can use it with FinalCut). I don't have ProTools installed.
I went to the DigiDesign website and downloaded the appropriate CoreAudio Driver (CoreAudio 7.0), installed it and nothing works.
I go to System Preferences and find an "mBox 2 Control Panel". Useless.
The Digidesign manager is active in the toolbar - it sees the mBox. Audio MIDI Setup sees the mBox. mBox 2 Control Panel won't see the mBox.
Despite this, I try to play some iTunes through th mBox (because Audio MIDI Setup tells me that I have it selected as my primary audio output).
Nothing.
I assume I want something that won't tell my System Preferences to look for an mBox 2.
Any thoughts? This is my first visit to the digiDesign site in over 2 years (a testament to how long it takes before something breaks - and why I like the digi products) but the support thing seems to be completely impossible to navigate.
Can anyone help?
Bill
