Thanks for the reply Darryl. Let me clarify.

I already have the neve preamp. One of the things that drew me to the Audien was the hardware inserts, allowing use of external preamp.

I'm not assuming the converters are better; I'm asking if anyone has experience allowing them to share a comparison. I don't wish to downgrade in sound quality.
