Default Eleven Rack and computer: How to connect for audio data?

I am a Pro Tools HD guy, so please suffer through my dumb questions.

My son is buying an Eleven Rack (11R) and MIDI keyboard.
He will be connecting the 11R to a MacBook Pro.
I understand the MIDI keyboard connects to the MIDI In of the 11R, and a pair of monitors connect to the 11R.

Where I am confused is the connection between the 11R and the computer. The Users Guide shows only a USB cable. This is fine for integrating the 11R into ProTool LE 8 (or Pro Tools 9, if my son upgrades), but how does the audio data flow between the two??

He will be recording a guitar track while simultaneously listening to the mix, so there will be a lot of audio data flowing between the 11R and the computer hard drives. And, there needs to be low latency as he is playing the guitar. So, the audio data can't possibly flow via USB..........what other connections are needed? Digital or analog cables connected between the 11R and a computer sound card?

I searched the Users Guide. What am I missing?
