7.1.1 is the oldest version that works with Intel Macs. If your plugs work with 7.1.1, they will also work with 7.3.
What do you mean when you say "nothing worked"? Were the plugs loaded in the session and didn't work or did they disappear?
Before going back to 7.1, try the latest 7.3.1cs update. Also see if your plugs are in the Plug-In (Unused) folder.
Remember the plugs from a PPC Mac won't work with an Intel Mac. You will need new plugs.
