Default Re: Question on 001 and SATA drives

HI,

About the question:
SATA controller and drive size has nothing to do with the 001 or PTLE, itīs just about the System which is supported taht is 8.6 to 10.4.
The reason why you Macīs IDE will only run that drive with 137GB is that the original ATA/IDE
filesystem protocol can not adress a bigger number.
SATA file system CAN. Ergo: the drive size is attached to the controlling filesystems protocol.
(ATA/IDE, SATA, SCSI, etc.)

This is rough but catches the point of it all.

The Card will also work in ANY PCI 2.2 compliant slot, as they support the 5Volt power which it needs. This is also the reason it will not run in a G5, cause of lack of 5Volts.
Which concludes: if you can run a 001 PCI card, you can run that controller, too, cause BOTH need
5Volts powersupply.

So any G4 will run that card.

Oxford 911 is only for firewire cases, ONYL!
