I have a 1st gen 1.8 ghz G5 that is working with the 002R & PT6.7cs8 without a problem. The only difference I can offer is that I installed an adaptec AFW-4300 3 port firewire adapter PCI card. It was pretty cheap and if that fixes your problem it would be well worth the $$...
