Hello. I use an Mbox and a laptop for recording film/video shoots. The system is stationary, so most issues go away. I have however used it as a mobile set up, but that's clunky at best. Here are some other options.
PD Audio from Core Sound.
ZFR100 from Zaxcom.
MicroTrack 2496 from M Audio.
R 1 from Edirol.
The 7 Series from Sound Devices.
PCM-D1 from Sony.
MINIR82 from Sonosax.
Some are more expensive than others. Also check HHB Portadrive, Nagra, Fostex, Tascam they have portable recorder models.
