Default Re: field recording

Hey,

I went the route of an Mbox and laptop a few years ago for some of the same reasons. You will quickly realize that unless you intend to remain perfectly stationary while recording, using a laptop can be challenging. If you're recording outside, during the day, it's hard to see your laptop screen. You're always worried about the elements. If it's starts raining, forget it. Dirt, sand and variety of other things you may not think about until it's too late can harm a delicate laptop while outside as well. Look at a solid portable recorder, Morantz makes a good/affordable selection worth looking at.

As far as the laptop and Mbox for general editing etc. Go for it. I used my Mbox for work and play about 10hrs/day and it is all I need to pay the bills while satisfying my obsession!

Regards.
