I supervise a small team of sound editors for a broadcast network. When hiring, I expect it to take 3-4 months until someone is up to speed with how things work re: workflows, equipment, ancillary software, etc. One thing I don't need is for new hires to also struggle with the DAW (in our case Pro Tools) or, even worse, mixing concepts. Thus someone having a PT Operator or PT Expert certification gives me some peace of mind that I don't have to spend time teaching the software.
