I feel Avid has already acknowledged the tough times ahead – and what makes more sense financially - by offering Ultimate Perpetual (not Subscription) Upgrades for half-price, at $499.
Professionals will keep updating annually – and keep claiming the expense.
Many hobbyists will be happy to sit on the latest version - for as long as possible. This means wallets and purses will remain tightly closed, until they’re prised open again, by better stability and features in a newer version.
Avid
has let us stop paying for annual upgrades if we feel that we don’t need them, by selling us Reinstatements & Upgrades that let us decide when to renew, without having to pay full-price, all over again. Good move!
