Select across the desired area, "B" key to separate, Shift-Opt-down arrow for the desired amount of clip gain, select across and command-F to apply a preset linear 10msec Xfade across the boundaries. One can easily program this into a Keyboard Maestro or Soundflow macro so it's one keystroke/button.
