Default Re: Good home setup for $2k??

Get a Digimax LT 8 channel Pre. (600+ bucks or so) Run it lightpipe and pick up a few mics. (E609, Oktava 012, and a few others. )

The Daking will run you about 1500 and up, the Apogee is above 2000.00 and the NEVE.... well... keep saving my friend....

Whoever told you that has expensive (but good) taste....

Check out guys sites here and get a feel for what they are using... Some have expensive gear. Some run studios and can write it all off. Some are hobbyists and just get what works....
You gotta figure out what you need. No need to buy Apogee if you are recording your late night thoughts. The Digimax has a clock that I hear is very close to the Big Ben ( Cavell )

Just gotta get what is affordable for ya man...
