UAD plugs were latency prone on PTLE unless you used the Mellowmuse ATA plugin scheme that was provided. In PT9 with Delay Compensation latency is no longer an issue with UAD or any other plugs you like. I run a UAD2 card with a decent array of plugs without issue on a Win7/003 rig running PT9. I do run PT on Macs but not with UAD so can't help there but thought I should update your comment about your friend.
