Personally, I tend to hate and avoid gates if I can. One trick you might try is; duplicate the track. Strip out all the kick hits and insert the EQ 1 band, and hit the polarity reverse. The reversed bleed will cancel the bleed on the original track. Another method I use quite a bit is; insert Drumagog and grab a good kick sample(could even be a clean sample of the kick you are using) and you can either eliminate the bleed with the right setting(sensitivity) or control the amount of bleed(a little is not a bad thing sometimes) by using the Blend control.
