Is this on a Windows system?(see why details matter
). If it IS, maybe Windows is trying to use the interface as the "Default Playback Device". On Windows systems, you should set Windows(in Sound Properties) to NOT use your interface as the default playback device(so windows doesn't control the settings of the interface)
