The cable itself is no different than a regular stereo cable in design.

It sounds like you speaker system is looking for a stereo input and not a balanced TRS input. I would not suggest plugging your speaker into the TRS output.
Possibility someone here knows of a safe way of doing this, like with an adapter or something.
Ok so Ring and Tip are out of phase signal to cancel noise and the Sleeve is shield
