Not really sure what you mean by "freezing" and unfreezing". If you have no control and no mouse movement, it could possibly be a memory issue.

It could also possibly your video card or drivers. Couldn't say for sure without details about your system.

Checking for driver updates is a good idea, though, even if it doesn't solve the problem.
