Core Audio has been broken as far as I know from Mavericks on. I think most of the the issues are fixed in Sierra. I never went to ElCapitan, because there were even more problems with that OS. I stayed on Yosemite, however I just updated to OS X Sierra with PT 12.5.2 with not problems and is quite stable on my Early 2011 MacBook Pro 17". I also have the latest Mac Pro in the studio and it's running good on 12.5.2 on Yosemite, but can't update until I finish a 3 month project feature in post. G
