I use a p4 2.26. make sure you get a northwood processor(533 system bus)... there are faster p4s, but I think the gain you might get is fairly minimal... I have clocked mine up to 3gHz, and I barely saw a difference... I can get 32 tracks with 5 plugins on each track easy(+10 aux sends!!)
I think that motherboards chipsets and memory type also can make big differences. Everyone on the DUC are so pro-AMD, that they never gave the 2nd gen P4 a chance. too bad... it is AMAZING.
