The New Jersey City University Media Arts Department Lecture Series proudly presents recording studio designer, builder and acoustician, John Storyk, Tuesday, March 1, 11am in the Visual Arts Building room 08, NJCU.

Mr. Storyk is world famous as the premiere sound studio and performance space designer. His projects span from Electric Lady Studios (Jimi Hendrix) to Jazz at Lincoln Center; and yes, the new recording suite under construction right here at NJCU.

"It all started in 1969 straight out of Princeton’s School of architecture. John Storyk was back in NYC and looking for work. He answered an ad in the Village Voice 'construction workers needed for new club in downtown SOHO' (only there was no SOHO). John joined that construction crew and soon became its foreman and redesigned the project. Before you knew it, "Cerebrum" was on the cover of Life, and in Time magazine. Jimi Hendrix loved that place. He wanted the guy who designed it to work on his studio. "I want that guy," he said, and that’s how John became the architect and acoustical designer of Electric Lady Studios."*
