<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">i know before i had a real copy of XP, i tried to install those service pack updates, and it knew, saying: 'you must have a registered copy of XP to install these things.'
since then I've purchased a liscensed copy of XP, (for only $15 dollars btw!) and it obviously works fine.
