O.K., here's the official error mewwsage:
"Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI. Power-cycle and check its connections. note, if HUI is not in use, update teh Periherals dialog to prevent further warnings."
The messed up thing is, the transport buttons work, the mix/edit window button works, but that's it!!
