Re: Mind Made Up

Sadly I'm right there with you, Barry. But with me being a bit of a cynic, I kinda saw this coming a few years ago. As soon as HD Native became an option my HD2 system got sold (the cards, 192...

Re: Please Avid We All Really Want You to Be Successful

With some sadness, I've already purchased a copy of Nuendo and will endeavor to learn it over the next year. Since I'm doing more game sound these days, it might be the wisest path forward. Oh well.

FS- RME ADI-8QS A/D/A in excellent+ cond

Hello good people,

I have an ADI-8QS (RME's flagship 192k 8 channel A/D/A), with box and all normally supplied accessories. It's in truly excellent shape. I'm in North Hollywood if you're local...

Re: Serious PT 11 bug, beware

Well, we can look at it multiple ways. People in my particular market would gladly trade some of the whizz bang features for stability and bug-free performance. If you're ok with the way Avid is...

Re: Serious PT 11 bug, beware

The deal is that you're beta testing a product you paid top dollar for, to root out bugs that should have been caught long ago. ;)

Re: Pro Tools HD11 for post. Things to improve!

Hey Michael! Hope you're doing well, man.

Good post. I'm glad I haven't upgraded, as I'm running the same basic setup. Would be nice if Avid didn't put out these expensive paid upgrades without...

Re: Please please PLEASE Avid, let us buy the PT11 HD software without the hardware!

If you already have a PTHD 10 license, there's no reason you can't upgrade to 11 now, correct? Just pay the $699 and surrender the PT10 license?

Re: Are there any happy PT 11 users?

By the time I'd be comfortable jumping into PT11, PT12 will be right around the corner. :p

Re: Bring back TCE petition (add your vote)

Don't tell me that the loop trimmer is still there but not the TC/E. Don't tell me that.

I haven't "upgraded" yet, so I'm in the dark.

Re: Going HD Native for Post

Totalmix rocks. The RME code is all solid. MUCH better than Avid in terms of reliability. Having the capability to route, in surround if desired, the outputs of any other program into PT with that...

Re: Going HD Native for Post

Hopefully the coding is easy to just port over to the aax format, otherwise why would plug manufacturers bother? Most people are going to be using native, and so that's where the money will be. ...

Hi Michael!!!!

Hope you're doing well, and that business is good. I have the fondest memories of that trip. Thanks again for hosting me so nicely while I was in your beautiful country. I'm no...

Re: PCI-X to PCIe Exchange is Back (!)

Exactly. This is crap. People, just buy a third party card of your choice (LOTS out there!), buy a really good multichannel A/D/A converter, and be done with it. The converter will never be...

Re: PCI-X to PCIe Exchange is Back (!)

Yet another strategic blunder by Avid. The wheels are coming off, it would seem. It certainly appears as though they're trying to rip off their customer base as fast as they can before the ship...

Re: PT9 Native not an option for me yet

Honestly, you might want to consider using a lower rate. You're really not gaining anything if you've got good recordings and understand how a/d/a conversion works. 44.1 has the potential to sound...

Re: PT9 Native not an option for me yet

Good point Bill.

A lot of the issue is the chasm between actual needs and perceived needs. People aren't generally receptive to that type of "criticism", no matter how valid.

Re: BUG: automation doesn´t follow

Sad that Avid is letting the Pro Tools still veer towards the noob-mesmerizing feature sprawl instead of fixing problems. Whizz bang flashy shiny lighty features attract the moths and their cash.

Re: Help me Decide - Soundminer or HD Plus

SoundMiner is my main design tool. Pro Tools is just an editor program. I do all my conceiving and weird stuff in SM. It's killer for it.

Sorry you haven't had a good experience. Don't know...

Re: PT9 Native not an option for me yet

Yes, odd. Because this is what you wrote just above it. Glad you have figured out what works for you. What works for someone else might not be an identical setup.

You are correct. SOME are saying a lot of things. ;) The person I quoted was saying something specific that I responded to.

Re: PT9 Native not an option for me yet

That's odd, because I dumped my HD2 Accel for a native setup and I'm really happy with the improvements! :-)

Of course, I also completely dumped Avid with the exception of their software. RME...
