Yes the issue is probably the use of a "-". That is how PT names auto created clips. If it's worked for you in the past I can't explain that. But I usually use an underscore or simply a space.

I wouldn't mind the 999 limit if we could have multiple tracks and colors with 999 each.

And these marker tracks really need editing parity with the other tracks.
