I changed my prefs in PT to separate the record and playback volume so having the track mute on record is seamless. And yes, one workaround could be to make a track out of a previous playlist take...

Good to know I'm not the only one. I think it's a bug. I'm getting this on SD3, EZbass, Valhalla and of all things FabFilter! Everyone uses FabFilter. I checked and I have the latest versions.
