Re: 7.1cs3 & spinning ball of death whith crossfad

Having same issue here. 10.4.3, PTHD 7.1cs3. The engineer seems to think it happens more when there is a gap between the two regions.

Re: Whhhaaaatt?!?

Try deleting the Digidesign Databases folder on that drive. I had a problem similar to yours recently and it looks like deleting that is what cleared it up. I guess they can become corrupted!

Re: 6.9.2 list of bugs

I have noticed your second problem. When using iChat along with ProTools, if I'm using iChat and click back on a ProTools window (like the edit window), that window becomes active, but the...

Re: School me on delay caused by outboard fx?

No, it's not compensated for. As far as I've been able to tell, the delay readings in the mixer only work in TDM, not LE.

However, it's pretty easy to compensate for your delay when using an...

Don\'t delete Controllers folder - OR ELSE!

Just a warning to all, be careful not to delete the Controllers folder in your Pro Tools folder. Even if you don't use a controller.

If you do, you will get this message when you start ProTools:

Re: Getting rid of a buzz.

If you do the inverting thing, make sure you zoom in close enough to see the individual cycles, and line up the zero crossings. I would imagine this would take care of most of the buzz. This, along...

Re: DAE error -9035 (Pro Tools 6.4/HD 3

This problem can also come up if your session is in a folder which has a name with illegal characters and long names.

Re: Session Archiving

True, and AIT might have the greatest longevity as a medium, but that doesn't do any good if you don't have the means to read it a few years down the road. In order to write to AIT (as far as I...

Re: Session Archiving

For a cheap (free!) solution, we use Carbon Copy Cloner with PSync to backup our session drive to another duplicate firewire drive, which gets backed up to tape regularly. We've used Mezzo and...

Re: Songs opening at wrong tempo?

How would internal or external sync affect session tempo? We are still having the problem, but apparently it is not always being set to 120, sometimes to other tempos (tempi?). Since I'm not the...

Buggy import of LE sessions to TDM

When I import sessions from LE 6.4 to TDM 6.4, I have encountered several bugs, mostly with plugins. Apparently, TDM converts all of your RTAS plugins to the equivalent TDM automatically. I wish it...

Re: OT: Who is still mixing on an analog board

How do you keep it in sync? Do you mix back onto a stereo track in PT? Even then, you would have to compensate for the latency from the D/A/D conversion.

I definitely agree with the idea of a mix...

I think that was the point.
In any case, I think it's clear that the original poster's musical goals are very different from yours.
As with anything in audio, a particular piece of gear you...

Songs opening at wrong tempo?

An engineer I work with has problems with songs opening up at the wrong tempo. They were saved at a custom tempo, but come up at the default 120. I can't find this as a known issue.

What factors...

Re: Pro Tools 6.4cs5 Updates

Congrats to Digidesign on putting out this update. We have complained about this problem and it is nice to see it getting fixed rather quickly. I also like the idea of the "cs" updates, sort of...

Summing or level changes?

I agree with Valvebrother:

The biggest problem I would have with going to analog mixing is the inability to recall. Most of my mix sessions take place over several months rather than several...

Chorus/Flanger/Phaser RTAS Plugins?

I'm confused. In the Digi RTAS plugins folder, there is a plugin named Chorus and one named Flanger, but I've never seen these available for use in Protools. Are these just the short mod delay with a...

Re: burning a cd to go for duplication.

I've always heard that with modern burners, the 1X rule is pretty much bunk. The new drives are optimized for best performance at higher speeds, so it's not performing optimally at 1x speed (if it...

It's only officially supposed to be plugged in directly, but it works pretty well through a USB hub, though slightly more buggy. One of those Mac accessory companies (Griffin?) makes a USB hub that...

Re: HW Buffer Size 2048?

I'm also curious about this! Anyone have an answer? There have been many times when I have hit a brick wall cpu-wise at 1024, and I only needed a couple more plugins. 2048 would have come in handy!

Re: Major 002R Issues

I recently borrowed a 002R and used it for two weeks with my PB12" 867MHz. I had no problems whatsoever with 6.4. I have 640MB, OS 10.3.4. I was using a FW drive, but I don't remember where in the...

Re: Inactive tracks still use CPU

In LE I've noticed that plugins on inactive tracks still use CPU unless you bypass them individually. Since many plugins don't have a bypass, this doesn't always work. Since inactive tracks aren't...
