The same thing happened to me recently. I'm not sure what I did to get in this situation.

What I finally ended up doing was rebooting the computer. When PT came back up, it worked fine.

First you load virtual PC. This just provides a "shell" for another OS. Next you need to load one of the Window OS.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I ended up powering the computer down completly and booting it back up again. I did this without saving anything in PT. When it came back up, the problem was gone.

Recently, when I go into a session and hit the play button, it seems like the play button flashes and then the stop button flashes (and pause is displayed at the bottom of the edit screen) right...

There's "Timeline Insertion Follows Playback". I tried it and when I stop, it doesn't go back to the begining. It's what I was looking for.
