I had the same issue. Turned out it was Vocalign Pro causing it. Moved it to the temp folder, had no issues since. 9 times out of 10 when Pro Tools is crashing during startup, it's a plugin related...

Last I checked this device didn't work at all with Pro Tools. No HUI ability to map to encoder banks like that. A shame, because that's a really cool device.

That's what I've had to do, although with a basic little Behringer mixer. It's not ideal, I'd love to have this issue resolved.

Well, so much for that. iTunes did just crash on me, and while it hasn't locked up my system entirely, I am not able to force quit iTunes at all. Bummer, I had high hopes for this.

I've tried intentionally to make it crash by using multiple CoreAudio applications and switching back and forth between them (Safari, iTunes, Quicktime, FCP, Garageband, etc) and I haven't been able...

Oddly, that seemed to help for me, at least for now. It seems that once the plugin is deleted, coreaudio technically "shouldn't" work through the Mbox2, but it does, without crashes.

Weird, but...

I agree entirely. I used to never think twice before throwing large amounts of money at Digidesign for products that I knew were quality. However, I will not buy any new Digidesign products...

Digidesign is no longer doing the "trade-up" program, are they?

Also one last question: Does this issue still occur if the Mbox 2 IS plugged in, but is not set in System Preferences to output...
