I'm also seeing a nonsensical order if I sort by File Name in 2022.4.

I don't remember the last time I used File Name so I wouldn't know when it last worked properly.

No you definitely don't "need" Thunderbolt.

RME, Metric Halo, and MOTU all make good USB interfaces with analogue and digital I/O.

I don't think that's a good excuse in this case. This is VERY basic behavior that any DAW with post-production features should have. As BScout pointed out Avid's own Media Composer can do it easier...

No the MBox Pro is not and never will be compatible with Catalina or above. Avid stopped development and never offered 64 bit drivers.

Also there was a really old conflict years ago involving iOS devices connecting and screwing things up but if it hasn't happened to you before I don't know what would cause that now...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with sleep. That advice is way outdated. PT doesn't like it so just quit beforehand. Can't speak for the Studio Ultra but I've used sleep for 20 years on Mac and PC....
