Re: Kernel Panic Restarts PT

Hi, welcome to the community.

So which OS are you using? Very critical info. PT12 is supported on Mountain Lion, Yosemite, Mavericks, El Capitan, and Sierra.

Compatibility info here...

Re: Any benefit to TDM in 2021?

You can always try. Unsupported does not mean not working. It is just unsupported, Avid first asks you to upgrade your OS.

Re: Any benefit to TDM in 2021?

Perpetual license holders can use any version since PT12.6 which is supported on Sierra. Highest version supported on High Sierra would be PT2020.12

Re: When your internet is down so is ProTools

If you find out that DNS is often the problem (and network would otherwise be operational) you can try the free Google (8.8.8.8) and Quad9 (9.9.9.9) DNS servers and see if it helps.

Re: Any benefit to TDM in 2021?

Correct. TDM cards never made it to 64bit, so you would need to be using PT10 or lower, which means Mountain Lion or older (though Mavericks works with known issues).

Re: Freeze vs Commit

Yes, as said freezing is intermediate solution. As long as you are not sure if your Trillian track is done, freezing may help on some occasion, but once the track is "final" (what is that) then you...

Re: Is Avid including HEAT and Complete Plugin Bundle for perpetual users?

I can only guess this is manual work as it is a new policy. If it does not appear this year just contact Avid Support and they will sort it out.

Re: Quick Mute Headphones Feature?

I do not know of any monitor controller that has either/or switch for speakers and headphones. Everything has mute button for both though. It takes a second to click both, so I have never seen that a...

Re: PT HD 10 TDM & PT 11 Native on same Mac Audio Interface question

Actually the only option would be external chassis, because PT11 gets confused once it sees TDM core card in the system. With external chassis you just unplug the chassis cable and keep going.

Re: PT HD 10 TDM & PT 11 Native on same Mac Audio Interface question

TDM cards are not working on 64bit systems. PT10 was the end of the story.

Re: Instrument Plugins not recognized after install

Hi, welcome to the community.

PT installer itself (and trial version) does not include virtual instruments. You need to go to your Avid Account to find separate AIR installers to get them...

Re: Output shuts down when I bring up an older Pro Tools session from 6.9

Whenever you have I/O issues the first thing I would do is hitting default on every single tab on I/O setup. Then reroute and try again. If it still does not work, importing session data usually...

Re: better than $339 for Update & Support Renewal for Pro Tools Ultimate?

More than one license sounds like any salesrep out there would love to get you on phone to discuss about your personal price.

Re: better than $339 for Update & Support Renewal for Pro Tools Ultimate?

just take the 339 deal, it is not much different than 315. Whopping 7% difference there.

Re: Linking em up

Okay thanks. I hate ADAT so maybe that's why I forgot. I mostly use AES/EBU when I connect digital. ADAT connectors and cables are just asking for trouble IMO... but yes, in this case one 96 box...

Re: Any benefit to TDM in 2021?

My advise is having a new system for new toys. Park the TDM system to where it works and keep using it as it is.

I have a PT10 system (HD3) running on Mavericks and it has been unchanged more than...

Re: Freeze vs Commit

Of course it frees up resources while using other resources (storage). In my point of view it is not needed for "normal" plugins apart from commiting to something as in "this track is done". It is...

Re: Freeze vs Commit

Normal plugins are not often CPU heavy, but of course when you are using one, or one that requires large amount of latency compensation, it is useful. I only use it on VI's though

Re: Is Apple M1 Working Finally?

Oh you also have the custom mod? I thought I was the only one. Apple only ever sold 4/6/8/12 core but never 10-core.

Re: Linking em up

No problem. These boxes are about 20 years old but still in working condition on current PT software. You just need adapters to be able to connect to the new smaller mini DigiLink (those two are...

Re: Linking em up

To my earlier comment, I am actually not sure about 96 box being limited to 2 digital i/o. I do remember that it has AES and SPDIF (2-channel) but it may also have 8-channel ADAT connectors. In that...

Re: Linking em up

Yes, you can have maximum of two boxes connected to one card. It is a design feature of the DigiLink cable: sure it is capable of carrying 32 i/o but the way it is done means your first box primary...

Re: Linking em up

With 96 interfaces you only have 8 analog i/o and 2 digital i/o available, so daisy-chaining two would give you 16 analog and 4 digital. You need to hurry up about card(s) and cables if you need at...

Re: Freeze vs Commit

The way I have used is this.

- create your instrument track and only have the VI plugin there
- create aux track with plugins needed, route instrument track to aux
- once "done", freeze or...
