Re: Monitors in 2021

I'm on Genelec in a smaller room (4.5x3x3.5m), 8330's + 7370 Sub in a 5.1 with an eye on adding more 8330's for Atmos. If you're curious Genelec support is good at recommending a model based on your...

Re: Monitors in 2021

Unless they mean the 8331/8341/8351 models, I've seen them referred to as Ones too

Re: Mac mini 2018 - need a egpu?

Quick update, 3 seems to be fine (2xDP off a TB dock & 1 HDMI off the mac) - the HDMI occasionally disconnects for a second but rarely and not enough to annoy me at the moment. Biggest noise at the...

Re: Mac mini 2018 - need a egpu?

Thanks Mike, setting up the machine this evening so I'll see how I get on with the HDMI. I have a TB3 dock with dual DP's and was thinking of just using the HDMI for one of the lesser used side...

Re: Mac mini 2018 - need a egpu?

Yeah no 5k screens + have a TB3 dock with dual DP ports plus the HDMI on the machine. Waiting on the mini to be delivered so will see what happens

Re: Mac mini 2018 - need a egpu?

Yeah, was wondering if that was going to be the case. Haven't received the mini yet to try it but looking at used graphics cards in particular, the prices are pretty unreal due to the cryptocurrency...

Mac mini 2018 - need a egpu?

Hi,

I've jumped ship to a Mac mini (2018), running Mojave. I'd like to run 3 displays (34" ultra wide + 2 x 24" FHD). Is the internal GPU ok to run this or does an egpu take some strain/heat...

Re: Aja vs Blackmagic with Video Slave/PT - current state of play

Cheers Tom - I have up to now just used PT engine & have never had any of the real issues you see on here. I've moved to Mojave and PT2020 and recently had a few more issues than normal so thinking...

Aja vs Blackmagic with Video Slave/PT - current state of play

Hi,

I need to add a video peripheral to my Mac OS system that's either USB or TB, not PCI & will be jumping to Video Slave. Currently looking at the BM mini monitor or HD Mini (which can be...

Re: Bounce to Quicktime alternative workflow

I use QT Pro to do this all the time completely ignoring bounce to quicktime so I'll hit that problem soon. Bounce the audio the exact length of the qt and paste it on to the video in QT pro. ...

Re: FS: SOUNDSTORM SFX Sound Effects Library

Are you allowed resell six libraries? I didn't think you could as there's no way of telling how many times its been copied and resold, maybe check the t&c's

Re: EuControl 19.12 responsiveness/lag

It goes to home screen on the iPad but as someone else mentioned the app is still open. On Android, it just fails to update the track GUI and then is unresponsive and then goes to the home screen. ...

Re: New Control app - android restrictions?

The Tab A was actually the one I was looking at but good to know its on the Amazon platform officially too, seems like a lot of apps tend to sidestep it
Thanks

New Control app - android restrictions?

Hi,

Has there been any information on what version of android the overhauled control app will need? My biggest gripe with android is you tend to fall off the support list a lost quicker than ios....

Re: Dolby Atmos setup for sfx editing

Yeah, most of the capable monitor controllers I'd looked at (eg. Intonato or m908 etc) all do the eq and delay calibration inside so I was calling it like for like when saying the MTRX could be...

Re: Dolby Atmos setup for sfx editing

Yeah, think the monitor controller is the really hard one as 2nd hand i/o is easy enough to add on. Only advantage of the MTRX is I believe it can be your monitor controller + i/o in one with the...

Re: Sample accurate digilink interfaces in 2019?

True, that would be nice. Or at the very least, if they licence the digilink connector to a manufacturer they at least put a restriction that the internal hardware must exactly emulate the Hd i/o

Re: Sample accurate digilink interfaces in 2019?

Yeah, nothing can fix a longer delay unfortunately. Think its Apogee that go into quite a bit of detail on their thinking behind the latency - their A/D and D/A times are different so they could...

Re: Sample accurate digilink interfaces in 2019?

Re: Sample accurate digilink interfaces in 2019?

In the same boat - Apogee Symphony and Lynx Aurora (n or the older 8/16 models) are sample accurate. The Antelope Orion/Goliath appears to be too (though I haven't read any user accounts to confirm...
